Voter Registration

Only registered voters can participate in the budget vote & election on Tuesday, May 21, 2024.  If you are a resident of this district and are registered to vote with the Suffolk County Board of Elections, then you are automatically qualified to participate in the budget vote & election.  If you have not voted in any political or school district vote within the past four years, you will need to register.  All residents vote at the Kings Park High School back gymnasium, 200 Route 25A, Kings Park. 

Continuous registration will be conducted at the office of the District Clerk, in the San Administration Building, located at 180 Lawrence Road, Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.  The last day to register to vote is May 16, 2024.

Early Voting and Absentee Ballots
Applications for early voting and absentee ballots must be submitted at least seven (7) days prior to the vote if the ballot is to be mailed or up to one (1) day before if a voter picks up the ballot.  Completed ballots must be returned by 5:00 PM on May 21, 2024.  Applications may not be submitted more than 30 days before the election (not before April 22, 2024).  Mail applications to the Kings Park Central School District, Attn:  District Clerk, 180 Lawrence Road. Kings Park, NY  11754.  Ballots will be distributed as noted on your application once they are available.

Military Ballots

Military voters who are not currently registered may apply to register as a qualified voter of the school district.  Military voters who are qualified voters of the school district may submit an application for a military ballot. Military voters may designate a preference to receive a military voter registration, military ballot application or military ballot by mail, facsimile transmission or electronic mail in their request for such registration, ballot application or ballot. Military voter registration forms and military ballot application forms must be received in the office of the district clerk of the school district no later than 5:00 p.m. on April 25, 2024. No military ballot will be canvassed unless it is (1) received in the office of the district clerk before the close of the polls on election day and showing a cancellation mark of the United States postal service or a foreign country’s postal service, or showing a dated endorsement of receipt by another agency of the United States government; or (2) received by the office of the district clerk by no later than 5:00 p.m. on election day and signed and dated by the military voter and one witness thereto, with a date which is associated to be not later than the day before the election.

Instructions for Filing Nominating Petitions

The following information is provided to clarify any question you may have regarding the upcoming election.

1. Deadline for filing petitions - On or before April 22, 2024 by 5:00 PM

2. Petitions are to be filed in the District Clerk’s office in the San Remo Administration Building, 180 Lawrence Road, Kings Park, New York  11754

3. Number of signatures required:  25 (representing 2 percent of the number of voters who voted in the May 16, 2024 annual election of the Board of Education)

4. Before filing petition with the District Clerk be sure that:

  • Nominee’s FULL NAME is legibly PRINTED on each page,
  • All signatures are numbered consecutively
  • All signatures are written in INK
  • All signatures are INDIVIDUALIZED, i.e., Jane Doe or John Doe (not Mr. & Mrs. John Doe).

Two members of the Board of Education will be elected.  The seat is for a term of three years, commencing July 1, 2024.
