KPCSD - Long Island 250th Student Passbook
January 20, 2026
Dear Kings Park Students and Families,
As I communicated with you last week, this year marks the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The technical term for this event is the semi-quincentennial anniversary. There are 56 signatures on the Declaration of Independence, including one from Long Island (Brookhaven) – William Floyd. Over the past several months, I have had the pleasure of serving on the Suffolk County 250th Commemorative Planning Committee. One of the goals of the committee is to encourage Suffolk County’s youth to explore various sites – landmarks, museums and other historical sites that tell the story of our nation’s fight for independence and Long Island’s role in it. To accomplish this goal, the committee authored and published the Long Island 250th Passbook. Suffolk County has developed a dedicated website to celebrate this historical event.
Last week I also shared several links to various versions of the student Passbook. Unfortunately, one of the links was bad. Below and attached you will find the corrected link to the 8-page “print friendly” version.

(***print this 8-page student version for completion and submission***)
Go explore the Town of Smithtown in 2026!
Sincerely,
Timothy T. Eagen, Ed.D.
